"Our Father in Heaven understood that for us to make desired progress during our mortal probation, we would need to face difficult challenges," he said. "Some of these challenges would be almost overpowering. He provided tools to help us be successful in our mortal probation. One set of those tools is the scriptures."Scriptures are like packets of light that illuminate one's mind and give place to guidance and inspiration from on high, Elder Scott said. They are the key to opening the channel of communication with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
This talk really made me want to dig down deep and get to know the scriptures front and back. I have read the scriptures many times, but have I really understood them? The answer is no. There will never be a time where I can not learn more about the gospel. Personal revelations through reading the scriptures is very critical. I also feel that person scripture study, and couple scripture study is crucial in a family, and again, I need to definitely work on both!
I loved Elder Cooks talk about "Looking Up!"
Elder Cook said that if members exercise their faith and look to God for help they will not feel incapable of doing what they are called to do, or need to do. "We will be strengthened, and our lives will be filled with peace and joy."
This is soo true! I for one would rather sit and be depressed and discouraged over the curve balls life throws at me. I do swing and miss a lot of them, but when I do put my trust and faith into the lord, I always know no matter the outcome that's what is the best thing for me. Lately I have been struggling with my job that I've had since January. Don't get me wrong it was a great job, but sitting in an office isolated from people, and just picking up phones all day is not my slice of pie. I want to be somewhere where I can be creative, where I can really help people, and my outgoing personality can be utilized. I came home so angry and upset everyday, and obviously that wasn't fun at all for Jesse. I really felt like there was something out there for me, and I just need to trust in the lord and quit, and be patient! So, I quit! Yes, I am now job searching, and just got a job with Buckle, yet I don't feel like that was the job that the lord has in store for me. For now, it'll have to do in order to pay bills, but I think I really need to pray and ponder and ask for help and He will help me. I am so lucky to have Jesse to be so supportive of me and my decisions.
'Let us remember Him, and not hang down our heads,' for, as President Monson said,
'It is better to look up.' "
So, since I have been home quite a bit, it's been good to get some house wife skills down that I really haven't been able to practice. Thanks to Pinterest I have made some good dinners, and last night was my first time making a roast in the crock pot. It smelled SOO yummy! It was perfect for when Jesse came home from his long 22 hour bus ride home, because he was starving! I also went up north this weekend and used some of my gift card money to IKEA! I love that store!!! I bought a cute cup cake pan that makes tall and skinny cup cakes! I decided to make some for Jesse and I, and hopefully share some to others. They turned out pretty cute, and I did have one and it was YUMMY!
Also when I went up north this weekend I had the opportunity to see Camille and Spence and cutie Claire! I snapped some pictures of them before they left..
Isn't she soo flipping cute! |
They were so fun to be with this weekend.. even if I didn't sleep a wink! I was happy to be able to go up there, since I haven't been able to because I've been working my life away! We stayed with Cara and Todd and Cara's baby bump is SOOO CUTE! I can't wait to take maternity pictures of her soon! I am so grateful for my family!
Other than job searching life has been SO great! Jesse and I are doing so great. Things are going so well and we haven't been so in love! I am so happy I am married to him, and I can't wait for the holidays!! It'll be soo fun together! Life is great, and I am just going to keep looking up! :)

I didn't know you got a job! how lame of me that I didn't even ask you while you were here. that will be a fun job to try out for a while! You will be great at it! I loved conference, and have it recorded, I want to watch it over and over again, hopefully uninterrupted and be able to take notes.
